Dense reed growth had gradually reduced areas of open water within the reserve. The objective was to selectively harvest mature vegetation while preserving healthy reed stands for wildlife.

Working Method
Using the Truxor reed cutter and collection rake, vegetation was removed in carefully planned sections to minimise disturbance during the winter management season.
Habitat Improvements
Opening sections of the reed bed created a varied mosaic of habitats, improving feeding opportunities for waterfowl and increasing water circulation throughout the site.
Outcome
The reserve now benefits from improved habitat diversity, easier future maintenance and healthier reed bed regeneration.
