Multiple Winter Silt Pumping Projects

Overview

During the winter season we completed a number of desilting projects where conventional dewatering bags were not suitable due to terrain or limited working space. Semi-permeable membrane systems were installed to safely retain sediment while allowing water to drain naturally.

Project Approach

Sediment was pumped directly behind temporary membrane bunds positioned within carefully selected containment areas. Once deposited, the material remained in place over the winter and early spring to dry naturally before final removal or landscaping. This method minimised disturbance to surrounding habitats while allowing significant volumes of accumulated sediment to be removed efficiently from lakes, ponds and drainage channels.

Outcome

Multiple sites were restored to improved water depth and flow while reducing long-term maintenance requirements and protecting sensitive environments.
